Do we need a Visa to visit St. Lucia?

No special visas are required for travel to St. Lucia however, all travelers arriving by air are required to fill out an Immigration Form no more than 3 days prior to their arrival. Forms can be found here.

What language is spoken on St. Lucia?

English is the official language of St. Lucia.

Is St. Lucia safe for tourists?

Yes! St. Lucia is safe to tourists and relies on the tourism industry to spur commerce and business. Like anywhere, we advise to us normal precautions while traveling. We were very comfortable walking around Rodney Bay at night together and individually.

When should we arrive?

Many guests have expressed interest in planning a vacation out around the wedding but the decision is yours! Khrystin and Ben will arrive in Rodney Bay on Thursday May 7th and stay through Monday May 11th.

What is the weather like?

Early May is a fantastic time to visit St. Lucia. Weather is typically in the mid-upper 80s with a chance of pop-up showers in the afternoons. Lows hover around the high 70s with a gentle coastal breeze.

What do we wear?!

Casual tropical island attire is suggested for the week/days leading up to the wedding. Cocktail attire would work best for the wedding ceremony/reception.

How do we pay for things?

St. Lucia uses U.S. Dollars (USD) and Eastern Caribbean Dollars (EC). Most establishments in Rodney Bay accept major credit cards. There are some places that only accept cash so we recommend traveling with small bills just in case. If you pay in USD you will most likely receive EC back in change. The current exchange rate is 2.70* -That means for every $1 USD you’ll received $2.70 EC. Please note: U.S. currency must be UNDAMAGED to be accepted. Bills that are ripped, missing corners/pieces, or heavily damaged from folding will not be accepted. The exchange rate does often vary. Check rates prior to your departure and plan accordingly.

Can we drink the tap water on the island?

Generally the tap water is safe to drink especially in tourist areas/resorts however many travelers prefer bottled water. Bottled water is readily available at local grocery stores, gas stations, restaurants and roadside stands.

Do we need to tip?

A 10% service charge is typically added to most bills. Extra tipping is appreciated but not expected.

Will our phones work?

Most U.S. carriers work in St. Lucia but additional roaming charges may apply. For example: A “travel pass” from Verizon costs $12/per day

What should we see/do?

There are SO many beautiful sights to see while visiting St. Lucia! We highly recommend checking out the official St. Lucia Travel page for ideas. We have put togther some of our favorite experiences on the “Things to Do” page. For quick reference we personally recommend:

  • Spend the day at Sulphur Springs & Drive-In Volcano in Soufrière

  •  Stroll through Diamond Falls Botanical Gardens

  • Take a walk through Pigeon Island National Park and catch some live music during the Jazz and Arts Festival (ends May 10th).

  • Check out snorkeling and diving spots throughout the island

  • Take a swim with horses on a private horse-back ride with Holiday Riding Stables. Fidel (the owner) is absolutely wonderful!

  • Enjoy a Piton Beer on the sandy shores of Reduit Beach at Marie’s Fish Shack
